Description
Notes: Alpine Meadows, Honeysuckle, Sweet Orange
Located in E.C. Manning Provincial Park, British Columbia, Canada. The traditional territory of the Upper Similkameen band and the Sto:Lo Indian Band,
This freshwater lake sits within a system of four lakes and is a hotspot for canoeing during the summer months. In the heart of the Cascade mountains there are endless trails and hikes to explore. Our favorite time is summer when the wildflowers bloom. Taking a walk through the alpine meadows you can expect to see Rhododendrons, Avalanche lilies, Lupine, and Western Anemones to name a few. The lightning lake loop is a 9km trail that will take approx 2.5-3hours, which is the perfect amount of time to unwind and reset.
Watershed: Skagit
Elevation: 1,247 m
Wildlife: There are 206 separate species of birds and 63 species of mammals within the park. Many of these are quite common species, such as the Columbian ground squirrel and the common pika, but also found in Manning are the less common mountain beaver, wolverine and the Cascade golden-mantled ground squirrel.
